The Press Briefing With Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Bonachristus Umeogu, Sponsor Of The First Edition Of NAYOB.

This is a press briefing with the sole sponsor of the maiden edition of the National Youth Oratory Battle [NAYOB] contest that took place on the 1st day of May, 2017. The press briefing which came some days after the contest took place on Tuesday 23rd of May, 2017, @ Communio Sancturum, in Awka, Anambra state of Nigeria.

Present in the press briefing were journalists from some notable media platforms within the and outside the state. See the briefing below.

Q: Sir, what motivated you into sponsoring this event?
A: The future belongs to the youths, and such programme centers on helping the youths to realize themselves, in order for them not to be lost in the crowd. There is need for empowering the youth intellectually, academically and morally, and this programme makes such aim possible to be actualized. Giving such empowerment to the youths help them to move with/through the crowd without been absorbed or losing their virtues.

Q: How do you intend to keep on sustaining this programme in spite of the economic condition?
A: It’s worth sustaining since the purpose is to make positive impacts on the youths. If God sustains us, then we will surely sustain the programme.

Q: Do you intend making provisions or rewarding other participants [not just the overall winner] taking part in the contest in the next edition?
A: Yes, by the Grace of God, such provisions shall be considered in the coming editions. But every participant in the just concluded edition got consolidation prizes.

Q: What is your advice to the wealthy people in the society?
A: They should endeavour to be sponsoring worthwhile programmes rather than encouraging activities that will corrupt and lead the minds of the youths astray. They should be sponsoring programmes that help our youths to discover their true selves.

Q: Father, what actually piques your interest in sponsoring philanthropic and charity activities?
A: [smiles]; it is nothing else but the zeal and love I have for humanity and for God. There is a difference between philanthropy and charity, the latter is spiritually inclined, i.e. done for one’s love to God and without expecting anything in return.

kindly comment and share with others.
Thanks.
