NFF suspends John Charles, Ogunta Matador over poor officiating

The match officials have been suspended from Nigeria topflight games throughout the season for their poor show in Akure on Sunday

The Referee Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation on Tuesday announced the suspension of referee duo of John Charles and Ogunta Matador for the rest of the season owing to poor officiating.
John Charles and Ogunta Matador served as the centre and asisstant referee respectively in Sunday's Nigeria Professional Football League Week 4 clash between Sunshine Stars and Dolphins in Akure, which the hosts won 2-1.
Chairman of the NFF Referees Committee, Ahmed Fresh explained that the faulted referees were suspended for performing below officiating standard.
"Referee John Charles and Assistant Referee Ogunta Matador have been suspended for poor performance in a Glo Premier League Week 4 match on Sunday," Fresh said.
"Both arbiters were on duty when Sunshine Stars FC of Akure hosted Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt on Sunday. The homers won the game 2-1," the NFF board member said.
"Chairman of the NFF Referees Committee, Alhaji Yusuf Ahmed Fresh said the two officials were suspended for “gross misconduct and performance below the required standard," Niger State FA chairman concluded.
