MAKURDI ARMY INSTITUTE HAS MORE CIVILIANS AS STUDENTS — SENATOR

The senator representing Zamfara Central Senatorial District, Kabir Marafa, has pointed out that only a quarter of the student population at the Nigerian Army Institute of Technology and Environmental Studies, were military personnel adding that majority of them were predominantly civilian students.
Marafa, an All Progressives Congress member, stated this in an interview with journalists in his Abuja office.
He however, noted that the admission to the school was open to all qualified applicants regardless of whether they were soldiers or not.
The senator, who recently sponsored a bill to give legal backing to the 13-year-old institution, explained that the school has a population of about 3, 000 students.
He said, “Of the 3, 000 students in the school, only 25 per cent are military personnel. The rest are civilians from across the country. When the enabling law is in place, NAITES is going to impact positively on Nigerians regardless of whether they are soldiers or not.
