UNILAG ASUU Vows To Go On Strike Over Management’s Neglect

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Lagos (UNILAG) chapter has vowed to embark on an indefinite strike next month over the management’s failure to accede to their demands.
The union’s agitations, according to the UNILAG-ASUU Chairman, Dr Laja Odukoya bordered on negligence in promoting lectures who are due for promotions on the grounds that there are no vacancies.
Odukoya who lamented discrepancies in the promotional exercise at the University said: “Those who are junior to you in other universities are promoted and when they come here, they end up being your superiors and are even mandated to look into your papers.”
He warned that if by the next National Executives Council (NEC) meeting of ASUU slated for December 6 to 8, UNILAG authorities do not address their 2011 agreement, they shall go on indefinite strike.
