cargo truck crashed into pat’s Private School premises on 134 Old Ojo Road in Lagos yesterday.
The security officer of the school, Ikpana Asuquo who escaped the accident by a whisker, said that the incident which left the assembly hall and principal’s office in ruins happened at about 2:38 am, while he was patrolling the premises.
According to him, the vehicle with registration number XA 957 TRN broke down the gate, the concrete pillars of the three-storey building before burying itself in the principal’s office.
At the scene of the accident, mangled iron doors, and broken walls littered the place, two diesel generating sets were also crushed by the vehicle.
Due to the incident, students of the school were sent by teachers who were shocked beyond words on the incalculable damage to the building. According to Ikpana the occupants of the vehicle were trapped in the debris until a team of policemen from Agboju police station got to the scene and rescued them.
The proprietor of the school, Navy Captain Edward Molokwu (rtd), who was visibly shaken by the tragedy, said that he was alerted of the accident by the security guard. He however expressed gratitude to God that no life was lost.
