NIGERIA TO INVEST N1.5TRN ON UNIVERSITY EDUCATION FOR FIVE YEARS



President, Goodluck Jonathan as promised N1.5trn to be spent on the newly established 14 university across the country which will enable more Nigerians locate education across the six geo-political zones of the country, during the 71st anniversary of the Lagos Island Club during the weekend.
In a speech delivered by the vice president, Namadi Sambo representing the President, Dr. Jonathan said “The Federal Government has accorded education and skills acquisition a prime place in the efforts being made to improve labor productivity as a means of transforming the economy,”
the universities for the next five years will be funded with a sum of N1.5trn which will curb unproductivity among our youths and encourage skills acquisitions. This arises as an urgent need to transform our schools into international standard.
The vice President also charged the members of the Lagos Island Club to remain unite in transforming unity and oneness to the younger generations, as the 2015 elections approached, the federal government had put everything in place to ensure that next year’s election were credible
