Enugu Govt Budgets N150million For Desks In Public Post-Primary Schools

The Enugu State Government has approved N150 million to purchase modern desks for its post primary schools.
The state’s Commissioner for Information, Mr Chuks Ugwuoke, told newsmen in Enugu on Saturday that the government would purchase 5,000 three-seater desks for public secondary schools in the 17 local governments.
Briefing newsmen after an executive council meeting, Ugwuoke said the idea was to remodel government-owned secondary schools and create an enabling environment for learning in them.
The commissioner said the project would be executed by five contractors and would be replicated in government-owned primary schools in due course.
The commissioner said the council also approved the procurement of electricity generating sets for its university’s teaching hospital to ensure adequate healthcare system.
Other approvals for the hospital included the construction of storm water drainage system and installation of overhead tanks in the sum of N83 million, he said.
Ugwuoke said the council also approved the electrification of the newly-established San Carlos Pineapple Farms, a joint venture of the state government and a Korean firm at the cost of N33 million. (NAN)
